Should Teachers Be Allowed To Conceal Carry In Schools
The odds off a young person being the victim of a homicide at school, on their way to school, or at school sponsored events is 1 in 2.5 million according to U.S Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Due to the fact, that mass shooting are a rare occurrence, teachers being allowed to conceal carry is the nation over reacting. I urge you to take a stand before a decision is made on your behalf. Take control of your child’s safety. Start by making a petition stating that you don’t want teachers to be able to conceal carry in your schools. Get involved with local organizations. It doesn’t matter where you start as long as you are involved.

By arming teachers or the staff that helps to support schools will only increase the level of liability in schools. Kenneth S. Trump, President of National School Safety and Security Services said "School districts considering arming teachers and school staff with guns would take on significant responsibility and potential liabilities that I firmly believe are beyond the expertise, knowledge-base, experience, and professional capabilities of most school boards and administrators," it is short-sighted for those supporting the idea to believe that educators who enter a profession to teach and serve a supportive, nurturing role with children could abruptly kick into the mindset to kill someone in a second's notice. Police and military personal train their entire career for these kind of situations. They are trained and placed into situations that require them to be in the mindset that they may have to take a life. This is the opposite of the caring role of a teacher.…

Many schools are asking themselves if they should go through with training teachers and staff and some schools have started doing so. Even though most schools have not allowed teachers to carry a concealed firearm, some teachers like Kelly Blake, a teacher of agriculture at Fleming School in Colorado, reports that she “wants her students to be protected at all times.” Other teachers along with Blake have looked at the arming teachers situation like this as well because they feel like they have the right to bare arms and protect themselves. As commonly known, protection means a thing, person, or group that protects. In this case, protection is a firearm. Across the United States, conceal and carry is a law that allows a trained licensed owner to possess a weapon for protection in times of desperation. In this generation, school employees should be allowed to conceal and carry, because the potential dangers that schools face could be stopped in a moment’s notice to protect all from harm. An attempt to stop a mass attack is more helpful than ignoring the fact lives are at risk.…

Picture a class of twenty elementary students hidden under desks around the classroom, and the teacher is begging the children to stop sobbing. Down the hall the sound of gunshots ring out the sounds of people screaming and begging for help can be heard. The shooter is moving closer and closer to the area and all the innocent soon to be victims are defenseless. There is nothing in that classroom that is going to stop what is about to happen. Now imagine a teacher with a handgun that could at least scare off the shooter, or deter them from advancing into the room. Many people frown upon teachers being able to carry a handgun on school grounds, but if they only knew that the thing they frown upon could possibly be saving their kids life. It makes perfect sense that teachers should be able to carry a handgun if and only if they go through the proper training and tests.…

Concealed carry anywhere has been a highly controversial topic for many years. In the back and forth of this heated debate, multiple subcategories have arisen. One of which is whether universities should allow student or staff to carry concealed handguns on campus. This is a strange debate topic because the obvious answer is no. Just a few of the reasons are an increase in crimes of passion, a possible increase in school shootings, and a high risk for robbery and assault.…

The majority of them said they don’t hope to be armed. Guns should not be in the hands of who don’t wish to hold them. It’s unreason to arm teachers when they don’t desire to. In the article, Montgomery writes, “Rep. John Legg, R-New Port Richey, who has taught in the classroom and now is a charter school administrator, said, "I'm not a fan of solving violence by escalating violence on an elementary school campus” (Montgomery). As the lesson that teachers always tries to teach their students, violence is not a way to solve violence. Arming teachers would also give the atrocious messages to the students that being violent is fine, which isn’t. In the article, the author writes, “72.4% of educators say they would be unlikely to bring a firearm to school if they were allowed to do so. 68% of teachers, faculty and education support staff opposed a proposal to arm teachers” (Guns and School Safety Survey Results). Some teachers are elderly. Many of them even have mental health issues. Not every teacher will successfully acquire the skills required to bring guns to school. Arming teachers would not reduce violent crime rate if strangers come to one of those…

On Friday, December 14 there was a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. A man shot an entrance into the school, through the front office and then continued toward the classrooms. He walked into a Kindergarten classroom of 14 innocent 4 and 5 students and a substitute teacher, in which he shot all of them. He continued toward a first grade classroom in which he shot the teacher and six of the students. This is all could have been stopped if a citizen with a Concealed Carry Permit, CCP, was near during the incident. A school isn't allowed to have guns on campus and that makes it all the bit more easy for a shooter to walk in and not be stopped. Concealed weapons should be legal in all states because it is a right of the US citizen, can stop…

School campus’ have always been a large target for shooters and attackers. Students and teachers that have spent time to gain the trust of the government to conceal carry should also be able to holster on a campus without interruption. Many people will say having any weapons is a danger to students and any other pedestrians on campus but a law abiding citizen that has had training and known when a weapon should and shouldn't be used could be vital to saving the lives of many during a life or death situation. Shooters also knowing that this is true are a lot less likely to try and target a school knowing there is going to be resistance. Currently there are only twelve states (Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Wisconsin,…

Also, to even protect all the students and faculty members in the school. If a teachers training includes gun safety and usage that would only increase the safety of the classroom. I do not think at all that this could bema negative thing. People who become educators are hired because their principal feels that they fit the qualifications necessary for teaching the students to the best of their ability. There are superintendents who gave gotten together and stated that “we’re seeing so many school employees saying they would attack.” Many and most teachers are all about having a gun on their person to protect themselves and their classroom as well as their students. For teachers at schools who are already armed in some school districts, there are regulations they have to follow concerning gun safety and dress code. The employees that are armed, which is a 32 member staff, went through mental-health screenings and trained for their concealed-weapons licenses together. The training will be ongoing until they leave that school. School safety consultants discuss how, “they could not base solely on the events of Dec. 14th, as they could not previously base gun training on what…
