Should The Father Be Punished In Romeo And Juliet
The father should be punished because he was not understanding of the love that Juliet had for Romeo. Juliet's father was only concerned about the wealth and stability that Paris could bring to his family. The father did not care about the deep love and emotions that Juliet had for Romeo, he manipulated Juliet to make the choice that was more benifical for him, but not herself. In "Romeo and Juliet," Juliet's father promises her that she would be able to have the final approval to pick who she would marry, however her father did not keep that promise. This caused Juliet to become furious and lose a great amount of respect for her father. If the father was not greedy and with so much hate in his heart, Romeo and Juliet would have not suffered

In the tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare wrote that Juliet married Romeo without the consent of her father, Lord Capulet. Without Lord Capulet having that knowledge, it was reasonable for him to find a husband for his daughter. When he was angry with Juliet for not being happy about the arrangement of marrying Paris, it was rude to yell at her the way he did. He had no thoughts on how she would feel, and did what he thought would be best, thinking of nobody but himself in the process of what he thought was his duty. Lord Capulet is a well intended father who thought he was only doing what he was born to do. When caught in the problem of finding a husband for Juliet, Lord Capulet took it too far by rejecting Juliet’s thoughts and feelings, and imposing his intentions.…

In the Play, “Romeo and Juliet”, Juliet`s relationship with her parents is very different from Romeos relationship with his parents .Romeos parents are both loving and understanding of his feelings. For example, on lines (210-211) it says, “Alas, my liege, my wife is dead tonight! Grief of my son`s exile hath stopped her breath”. This shows that even though Romeo and his parents aren’t that close, it still caused the grief of the father, and death of the mother. The relationship between Juliet and her parents is much different. For example, on lines (80-88) Lady Capulet is trying to convince Juliet to marry Paris because Juliet is already considered “old”, and because Paris has the looks, and money. For example, on lines (act I, sc.II, ln.77) Lady says, “Verona`s summer hath not such a flower”. This shows that her mother is more worried about marrying her off to a guy that has the looks and money, instead of letting Juliet choose what, and who she wants.…

The star-crossed lovers believe they are destined to be together, but their family rivalries prevent them from being with one another. However, unlike Hermia and Lysander’s merry tale, Romeo and Juliet’s story has a melancholy ending, with the Princes scolding the families saying “See what a scourge is laid your hate, That heaven finds means to kill your joys with love” (5:3:292-293). If the families had not prevented romeo and juliet from being together the teens would not have killed themselves. The whole issue could have been prevented, if the families perspectives on each other was not so childish. The reasoning for their hatred is never explained making the fighting even more pointless.…

Today, around four out of ten marriages end in divorce. Television host, Dr.Phil, states that children who are raised by one parent are more likely to suffer from Abuse. Comparing this information to parents from the late 1500's, when divorce was almost unheard of, children still suffered from different kinds of abuse and neglect from the influence of their parents. An example of this is when Capulet find's out that his daughter Juliet does not wish to marry Prince, he tells her "Hang thee, young baggage! Disobedient wretch!…

depicts his idea of how it is important and necessary parents should be communicating with their children. Shakespeare felt like the adversity involving teenagers like the one that takes place in the play can be prevented if parents were more emotionally attached to their children. In relation To my father thought it, the boy seems he is distant with the father. It hints that they may have a strained relationship. As a result to this strained relationship, it had made him want to get a piercing “ring of silver in my ear”, performing a rebellious act, but why? The fact that he was a teenager, it is most likely he wanted to get his attention or provoke him. He perhaps wanted to prove a point, showing his father that he is a ‘big boy,’ presuming…

In Romeo and Juliet, the children of two rival families, Romeo and Juliet, fall in love but their families cannot know. Romeo is banished by Juliet’s family for murdering their kinsman which greatly builds tension between their families. In the article “Sometimes Parents Just Don’t Understand,” the author describes the relationship between teenagers and their parents as… . The anonymous author states that parents are seen as “old-fashioned and protective” and not “empathizing” (P. 2, 6). As a result, teenagers and parents are having a hard time listening to each other because they have different mindsets because teenagers have a “semi-matured mind,” which makes them “act on impulse” and do rash things (P. 6). Parents, on the other hand, have a mature mind, but have trouble being empathetic and understanding their children. When Capulet does not understand Juliet in William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, problems arise because of the lack of communication between them.…

There are many negative perspectives that can be taken from ‘Romeo and Juliet’ that illustrate on the cost of love, in their case one of them is their parental disapproval for both Romeo and Juliet. In the text Shakespeare uses rhetorical questions, religious and visual imagery to explain the parental disapproval of both the Capulet and Montague family. Juliet’s own use of rhetorical questions, ‘What’s in a name?’, is an indication of her searching for a way to distance her love, Romeo, from the hatred of their conflicting and feuding families. Romeo uses of religious and visual imagery, ‘Call me but love, and I’ll be new baptised’, The use of visual imagery, ‘Had I it written, I would tear the word’, portrays the idea of the costs outweighing the rewards, he is willing to sacrifice family loyalty to secure his love with Juliet. For both Romeo and Juliet to be together they must pay the ultimate cost rather than a reward of celebrating their love with family.…

We see it all throughout the play, but none more than love verses hate, mainly seen in both the Capulet’s and Montague families. We have both hate between the two families, and yet we see Romeo and Juliet being ‘star crossed lovers’, we see love in each individual family, and hate when they are put together.…
