In my first argument, I will be sharing why water fountains aren’t always the greatest choice. In several studies, water fountains have tested to be equally as clean as toilet water. The water was drawn from toilets from several schools, as well as the water from the fountain spigot. The water was tested from each cup of water, and the toilet was only a very slight bit dirtier than the water shot out of fountains. Also the germs have been counted on several water spigots from a variety of schools. It has showed that on average, there is an upwards of 2,700,000 different …show more content…
species of germs living on a water fountain spigot. Now, concluding my reasoning, water fountains are very unsanitary are are never really cleaned by schools, and have even gotten a few kids very ill from contracting diseases such as mononucleosis, (mono). My second argument is why plastic water bottles are loud and distracting.
There are some people that have this disease called Misophonia. It affects the brain; it is from sounds that annoy people. People that have this are very distracted, and can’t focus with noises. This disease in fact affects kids from 10-14 the most, but anyone can have it. It is just a lot more severe in kids from ages 10-14. Water bottles are very distracting because they have a crackling plastic sound. It is a distraction, and they are the only kind of bottles schools allow, for the most part. We should be able to bring hard plastic colorful water bottles; it helps kids express themselves too. In conclusion, clear plastic water bottles are a distraction and kids can have a bad reaction to the sound, and kids also want to express themselves through the type of design on their water
bottle. My third argument is that kids shouldn’t have to leave class to get a drink. Kids that leave class are distracting by passing by their friends as they go to ask the teacher. They are also distracting because they have to open a door and then they miss class for a few minutes. A teacher could be explaining instructions during the time they are out. They also are just talking to their friends in the halls half the time too. When the student comes back to class they make a distraction by walking in the door. Then they have to walk to their seat and they will probably stop to talk to a few people on the way up. Then when they get to their seat, they have to ask their neighbor about what the teacher said. Their neighbor might not have payed any attention, and then the student doesn’t know what to do, now they have to walk back up to the teacher and ask them what they are doing and that is a whole different distraction. In conclusion of my paper, water bottles that don’t make a loud noise should be allowed in classrooms, because they keep students in class, away from being sick, and focused on the instructions and work ahead of them.
