This paper will cover the eight great sign miracles that Jesus performed that was listed by Dr. Towns. These miracles are also recorded in the Gospel of John and will be outlined below.

First Sign/Miracle

Turning Water into Wine: This miracle was performed at the wedding at Cana. The mother of Jesus informed him that there was no more wine, and Jesus response was "Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come." His mother spoke to the servants and said "whatsoever he saith unto you, do it." There were six waterpots of stone that the Jews used for purifying, and Jesus spoke to the servants and instructed them to fill the waterpots with water. Jesus

The nobleman besought Jesus that he would heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Jesus said unto him "Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way." His servants met him and confirmed that his son was alive. This sign miracle reveals the deity of Christ because it shows that the power of Christ is not limited by space. This miracle also reveals Christ deity because it manifested the power of his spoken word.

Third Sign/Miracle Healing of the Lame Man: Jesus went up to Jerusalem during the time of a feast "and a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years." Jesus asked the man will thou be made whole? The lame man replied that he had no one to put into the pool when the water was troubled. "Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. 9And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked." This sign miracle shows the deity of Christ because Jesus has power over time and the ability to heal all manner of sickness and

Lazarus sisters sent word to Jesus saying that Lazarus was sick, but Jesus did not go to Bethany right away. Jesus spoke to his disciples and saith unto them "Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep." His disciples did not understand that Jesus was speaking of Lazarus 's death, so he said unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went an met him and said Lord, if you had been here, my brother had not died. "Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day." Jesus said unto Martha, I am the resurrection and the life, and whoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Jesus called Lazarus forth from the tomb. This sign miracle shows the deity of Christ because he has power over

Some miracles are very obviously connected to Jeremiah, like his walking off the truck, but there are others that are not so obvious. In the New Testament, Jesus feeds five thousand people with five loaves of bread and three fish, which connects to the somehow refilling pot of soup that Tin Lurvy kept eating. Supposedly, Jeremiah would boil water with some vinegar and that would help Reuben breathe better, but I believe it was Jeremiah himself when he made it for him.…

In the book, “More than a Carpenter,” Josh McDowell shows how Jesus Christ was more than just a teacher of good principles or a significant person in history. He was God in the flesh who entered the world and exclusively proved His deity. This book shows how Jesus is different from religious historical figures, guides the reader through proofs of Christianity, and logically shows that Jesus Christ was Lord. He shows that Jesus would not have died for a lie and that if Jesus did not rise from the grave, then he would not be the Messiah. Christ has changed many lives because he lived a perfect life, died on the cross for everyone’s sins, and rose from the grave.…

“[Miracles] would not…answer any useful purpose.” said Thomas Paine, author of “Common Sense.” In Paine’s mind, miracles were out of the question because Christ would be degrading Himself and nature would have to change its natural order to accommodate Jesus. Perhaps, Paine could be considered a bit of a snob. Jesus walked the earth long before Paine’s time and had to use example from that time period to help people understand much like how Paine had to examples from the war in his paper to stir people to action. Christ used miracles in the culture He was in to help people trust him.…

In John, Mary finds the tomb empty, and no angel was there to explain why, so she runs to tell Peter, not knowing about any resurrection. Mary thought the body of Jesus had been stolen from the tomb. Mary is distraught and has had no idea that Jesus had risen from the dead. When she found the disciples, she said: They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not where they have laid him. (John…

The healing went like this Messiah and his disciples went into the synagogue there they found a man with a deformed hand. Since it was the Sabbath Messiah’s enemies watched him closely, and they were trying to set Messiah up for healing on the Sabbath. Messiah said to the man with a deformed hand “ Come and stand infant of everyone”(Tyndale). The man got up and he stood there then Messiah said to his disciples “ I ask you which is lawful on the Sabbath; to do good or to do evil, to save a life or to destroy it”. He told the man to give him his hand as he did so his hand was healed(Zondervan).…

Some Christians are persuaded by the miracles at Lourdes and the Virgin Mary appearing to Bernadette Soubirous. Also the water at Lourdes from the fountain is said to have special powers to heal. However there is no scientific evidence of the water actually having ‘special powers’ and this is an argument against miracles and also the Bernadette may have just been imaging things and the people being healed by the water maybe was just a coincidence they survived a terminal illness.…

-To understand that miracles, or works that are specially supernatural, are an important aspect of providence: Jesus heals the sick, crippled, blind, and he breaks a single fish and bread to feed thousands of people, just to name a few. When a miracle occurs, we should honor God because he is meeting our needs. Miracles can build our faith too.…

The first reflection paper is going to be on Prayer and Miracles. The important thing is that you want to pray. You yearn to spend time with God in prayer every day. Each individual has to find their prayer time. Life is full and in our daily frenzied life, one must set aside time to be with God. The hurried life style is so apparent in our culture today; everyone is in a hurry and want’s the drive thru prayer request. A miracle is an event attributed to divine intervention. Alternatively, it may be an event attributed to a miracle worker, saint, or religious leader. A miracle is sometimes thought of as a perceptible interruption of the laws of nature. Some suggest that God may work with the laws of nature to perform what people see as miracles. Theologians say that, with divine providence, God regularly works through created nature yet is free to work without, above, or against it as well. In casual usage, miracle is seen as any event that is statistically unlikely, but beneficial, such as surviving a natural disaster, or simply a wonderful occurrence, regardless of likelihood, such as a birth. Other miracles might be: survival of a terminal illness, escaping a life threatening situation or beating the odds. Some coincidences may be seen as miracles, for instance, “ God I need a parking space”, and then there is a parking space…then the driver says “Oh God Thank You anyways, “ I found one on my own”. Needless to say God provide in this coincidence.…

Jesus’ powers of being able to perform miracles started spreading between the people so when Jesus arrived in Jewish territory, a huge crowd had formed (21). The large crowd shows how well the word had spread and how many people wanted to see Jesus and his miracles. One person in particular, Jairus, was in urgent need of Jesus’ miracles, and he came to beg for Jesus’ help (21-22). Jairus was a Jewish leader, and during this time, Jewish leaders tended to be suspicious of Jesus. The leaders were angry that Jesus’ teachings differed from their own teachings. Mark makes a point to show that Jairus was a Jewish leader because Jairus falling at Jesus’ feet and begging for Him to heal his daughter represents that Jairus had trust in Jesus despite his Jewish background and what the other Jewish leaders believed at the time. Jairus begs for Jesus to “come lay a hand on her, so that she may be made well, and live,” and Jesus follows Jairus immediately to his daughter (23-24). Even though Jesus knows Jairus is a Jewish leader, Jesus knew Jairus believed in Him. Jesus did not care what your background was, as long as an individual had faith in Him, Jesus would help those in need.…

Healing is a very vital part of Jesus’ ministry. It is found to be essential to His ministry because Jesus had the ability to perform great miracles that resulted in the healing of many individuals. Through the power of God, Jesus healed people with various complications and even brought some people back to life after they already experienced death! Jesus greeted blind, crippled, leprous, and deceased people into his healing presence; no problem was ever too great to be resolved. Not one person that Jesus touched was left unhealed; he healed all who were ill.…
