Right away, the first two lines before the chorus draw a connection to what was happening between the two and the country. The bullets may act as both a literal and metaphorical form, with the bullets literally acting as weapons used in the revolt, and the “bullets” of criticism and hatred towards the two. Both are stuck in a situation that only results in them running away from the issue. In doing so, the lyrics “we gotta get away from here” resembles the decision they make, fleeing France. However, in the end, the two are eventually caught in their escape and brought back to Paris.
