Significance Of Color In The Great Gatsby
In many books and stories colors are used to show meanings and display emotions. In The Great Gatsby, colors are used to show the truth about each character. The colors are hidden throughout the book in clothing, vehicles and lights owned by the character they represent. Every color has a unique meaning, they represent the good and the bad about whatever object or person they are representing. Jay Gatsby's character is represented by many colors through many things that he owns and admires.
Gatsby is described as “fake” by the color yellow, the color yellows represents fake gold and optimism. Yellow is displayed in his house, as well as his car. The representation of Gatsby being “fake” is true because he hides and lies about who he truly is.
