The fact that these women are coming together despite the fact that they have differing political views speaks to the fact that while they now feel that the culture has shifted enough to listen to them they do not feel that a spotlight on the problem is enough to change the way women are treated. The problem is such a part of the culture that without speaking in numbers and citing examples of what is not acceptable, people wouldn't necessarily see how the treatment was wrong. Indeed, in the wake of the Baupin accusations and the parliament members coming together Finance Minister Michel Sapin issued a statement admitting that the accusations of him snapping a female reporter’s underwear waist band were true, but, he did not have any sexual or violent intent.
