He joined the Mexican Revolution Army at the age of 18, eventually getting ranked captain. He also joined the Communist Party and worked to undermine Mexico's new military dictator, Victoriano Huerta. For Siqueiros, incorporating politics in his art was a must. His big and bold murals, were often filled with causes that supported his leftist politics. Throughout his career, he created paintings depicting human struggle against authoritarian regime. Siqueiros was often jailed for his political work. Even so, in 1922, he painted what might be his most famous mural at the National…
Rose quartz is a pale pink to rose-red variety of quartz. Quartz is the second most plentiful mineral found in the Earth’s crust. Rose Quartz occurs only in massive formations, with no crystal faces, edges or points. It is often hazy or turbid; therefore it lacks good transparency. It also contains microscopic fibers, which can on occasion produce a cat’s eye or star effect within the stone. Rose quartz crystals are formed when the pressure within the earth pushes molten lava into cracks and crevices. Within these fissures minerals, usually titanium, iron, or manganese, begin to mix with other minerals, and it is during this process that rose quartz crystals begin to form. The first rose quartz crystals were found near Rumford, Maine, USA, but today most crystals come from Minas Gerais, Brazil.…
These two First Nations legends are similar in various ways. The Two Sisters and Siwash Rock are both superstitions that have transcended time. These stories have been narrated by the Natives which they in turn have received from their ancestors. They are legends that have been passed down from each generation to their descendants. The authenticity of these stories is unknown as they date back thousands of years ago. All we have to show are the stone monuments that can be seen today. In the Two Sisters, the “Lions of Vancouver” have stood in the high mountain tops for thousands of years and will stand for thousands of years to come. These stolid and unwavering twin rocks have looked over the grounds of the Indians. In the Siwash Rock, The legend…
The Biltmore had its reveled opening on June 6, 1922. The Providence Journal at the time said it would be “the most elaborate social event ever to be held in the city” The owners at the time of the opening were John Bowman and Louis Wallick. They wanted to open a state of the art luxury hotel. The layout of the building is something of the creativity of the famous architect team of Warren and Whitmore. They are the men responsible for New York’s Grand central Station. The building has a unique V shape, which allows visitors to each have a room on the outsides of the building with windows and natural lighting. The prized jewel of Providence at the time when it opened boaster 600 rooms, many different shops and services, rooftop gardens and…

I want to be a part of HSTE II because in the future I want to be a doctor. Right now I’m not very sure about what kind of doctor I want to be that is why I really want to be in this program so that I can experience all the parts in a hospital and find what kind of areas in the medical field that I’m really interested in, and which ones just don’t fit me and my interests. I don’t want to choose a path that I will end up regretting just because I don’t enjoy what I do. I am a person who loves to help and care for people, especially the people who really need the help, and I am a very quick learner. I always try to put myself in other person’s position because believe in the saying “Treat others the way you would like to be treated”. I intend to bring these major qualities of mine to the HSTE II class/clinical rotations because I think it is very important for someone in the medical field who attends to other people when they are at their lowest and weakest point to have these…
