What is one element that affects a company’s information system? Assuming that a company is able to provide a service to people; thus, generate a ridiculous-astronomical amount of money. Also, the Internet and media are engulfed by this company’s information system that is being render and it is highly sought after. Although it sounds like the company is popular, it does not define how the company manages and makes information available to users. One element that acts as a dysfunction within an information system is silo. Silo impairs the company’s ability to communicate internally or externally. If this problem persists and is not resolve in a timely manner, it can be devastating to the company success. Essentially, a company’s ability to communicate effectively and efficiently is powered by the company’s hierarchy to the subordinate personnel.

Information silos are the barriers that isolate data that occurs between information systems. Meaning that either one or multiple systems cannot transfer, receive, and or make data available. This technical impediment exists because entities at one organization level have a constraint on the information and access to the database, which limits the information from being shared internally or externally.

Silos work in two unique ways, both having an affect within an organization. One affect is the lack of proper communication being channeled throughout the origination.
