1
The similarities and differences of the Greeks and romans are evident in the study of their history and beliefs. Gods of different names and purposes fill both of their mythology. Zeus the father of all the gods is a main feature in Greek mythology, while Jupiter is the equivalent in Roman. Each has the same meaning and represents the same. Each presided over one of the three realms of the
universe: sky, the waters, and the underworld. The difference is in Greek mythology Zeus lives on Mt Olympus, whereas Jupiter lives in the sky.
In the Roman society woman were members of society, and were treated as such. But the Greeks treated them less than slaves. The separation of classes is also evident in both from politicians to slaves each society had different classes and separated those from the other. And although both cultures had a fierce army, the Grecian army was never able to topple the Romans. The influence of Grecian design in art is also visible in Roman society.
How did the Cycladic, Minoan, and Mycenaean cultures contribute to Greeks’ sense of themselves? They helped define the political, and religious as well as architectural background in which ancient Grecians based there culture on. Also with the advent of trade also helped define them. What is a polis and how did polies shape Greek culture? Polis is the city-states developed within each area, different gods and goddesses were assigned to each area. These city states were mostly used for production of crops, but great temples arose, and eventually men from each polis would meet to discuss the other.

What was imperial Rome? During the Imperial Augustus removed the separation of classes, and worked toward careers for all people, which had great changes in Senate. He outlawed adultery and focused on family, taxing childless couples. Arts thrived under his rule.
What values were retained from the Etruscans and Roman republic roots? Art, religion and politics all carried over to the modern era. Literature and Arcitecture has carried over and continue to this day.
