Similarities Between A Good Man Is Hard To Find And The Cask Of Amontillado
After reading "A Good Man Is Hard to Find" and "The Cask of Amontillado," I believe that Montresor is the least sympathetic out of the characters in both stories. In Flannery O'Connor's story "A Good Man Is Hard to Find," we are introduced to The Misfit, who obviously has a few loose screws. His actions and the little empathy that he shows towards human life leads us to believe that he is a sick man. A sick man with no motive for his wickedness. In O'Connor's short story, The Misfit claims the lives of six victims without remorse. But, to The Misfits defense, he never broke bread with any of the six victims. And, he did not know them on a personal level. Not to say that this gave him the right to murder six innocent beings, but, It may have
