Similarities Between Ancient Rome And Ancient China
Much of our modern day culture has origins in ancient civilizations. Our language, religion, and even government have been affected by these societies. Two examples of ancient civilizations that have impacted our modern culture immensely include Ancient Rome and Ancient China. Ancient Rome and Ancient China share many similarities, but also many differences. Ancient Rome and Ancient China have similarities in the problems they faced and in their accomplishments, but they also share many differences, such as their religions, languages, and locations. Ancient Rome, or the Roman Empire, is located in the Western Mediterranean. There, the main religion was Christianity and people mostly spoke Latin. Ancient China, however, is located in East Asia. In Ancient China, people mostly believed in Taoism and mostly spoke Mandarin Chinese. Furthermore, The Roman Empire had a democratic government, where power was given to the people. On the other hand, Ancient China was a monarchy ruled by a patriarch, where the men in a royal family of kings and queens were the rulers of …show more content…
Without these old civilizations, our culture would not have thrived and expanded to become what it is now. Despite their similarities and differences, Ancient Rome and Ancient China have affected in equally great ways. Without Ancient China, the Great Wall of China would have never been built, Taoism and Buddhism would have never been founded, and paper money would have never been created. Without Ancient Rome, many languages, such as French and Spanish, would never exist, and Christianity would have never spread as widely throughout the world as it has. We owe a lot of our culture to these ancient roots, and the next time we pay someone, go to church, or take a language class, we should think back on the origins of these everyday things and remember all that these ancient civilizations have done to shape our modern
