The similarities and differences between “The Song of Roland” and “Beowulf “are very visible to the eye. Roland
is heavily Christian more civilized than Beowulf. However, it still depicts a military like story that endeavors the glories of war, bravery, and loyalty. Throughout the battle, he ranges through of fighting men and breaks heads with the best of what he’s got. In Beowulf, the relationship between Hrothgar and Beowulf is one where there is no actual blood father, son tie but the two characters take on all the characteristics of a real father-son relationship. In the song of Roland, Charles relationship with his nephew Roland takes on a Father-son relationship characteristics.
In short, both heroes represent the all-out do or die, go for broke spirit of the heroic age.
