Similarities Between Brutus And Julius Caesar

I think that both speeches were very good and very persuasive. Brutus speaks first to ‘set the mood.’ His goal wasn’t to persuade the crowd but to tell them why he did kill Caesar. He speaks about how much he loves Rome and that killing Caesar was for the best. Although his speech seemed very formal it also seemed like he distanced himself from the public. It felt as if he were a messenger or that he couldn’t defend himself. On the other hand, Antony’s goal was to turn the public on his side. He slowly but surely gets the people in his favor. An example is when Antony goes off the stage and down with the people showing them he’s no better than everyone else. Antony also very kindly mocked Brutus.
