Similarities Between Civil Rights And Civil Liberties

Many people think that civil rights and civil liberties means the same thing but its actually not. They both mean completely different things. Civil rights are rights granted by the U.S. Constitution. The protection from this government assures citizens the protection against discrimination. On the other hand Civil liberties is something else. Civil liberties are the basic rights citizens have which is protected by the bill of rights. These basic rights that people have are freedom of speech, religion and etc; which is stated in the Bill of Rights. The Equal Protection Clause is the primary clause of the 14th amendment that is used to extend civil rights. The equal protection clause is included in the 14th amendment, so it was pass that everyone deserved equal protections under this law that was passed, no matter their race. From all this that was going on, this came create and enforce the Civil Rights Act of 1866. Which states that every citizens will have the rights that the whites had. So the equal protection clause was the reason for the 14th amendment to extend civil rights.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 protected women against discrimination when it comes to getting a job. So now women cannot be discriminated when applying for a job, they have the protection under the Civil Rights Act of 1964. A specific legislative action that extended civil rights to persons with disabilities was the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This act prohibits any type of discrimination against people who have any sort of disability in the work field, in transportation or any other commodity. This act also requires all public facilities to provide some sort of handicapped accessible for the person with disabilities. This is a specific legislative action towards persons with
