Similarities Between Crime Prevention And Victimization Prevention

Crime prevention and victimization prevention are similar in nature, but one is done to a larger scale. When discussing crime prevention, most people think of it as something that law enforcement does to combat crime. Whereas, this may be true, but it goes deeper than that. Yes, it is the proactive policies or initiative of police departments to attempt to reduce the damage that is caused by criminal activities within their jurisdiction. However, it is also the proactive initiatives of individuals from within the community to also assist, along with law enforcement, to combat criminal activities from taking place within the community. Some of the ways that individuals help is utilizing crime prevention programs, such as, neighborhood watch and community policing. The community uses their infrastructure to help as well, this would consist of faith based organizations, with local government involvement, business and any other organizations that are willing to assist (Crimesolutions.gov, 2017). The crime prevention strategies that the community would utilize to attempt to accomplish this would be; by reducing the poverty level in their area, strengthening the families, schools reducing their dropout rate, having successful treatment and rehabilitation programs with the necessary funding to operate them (Crimevictimsupdates.com, 2017).

Victimization prevent is usually done to a smaller scale then crime prevention. Victimization is something that can happen to anyone,
