Similarities Between Freak The Mighty
Freak the Mighty and The Mighty were full of many similarities and differences to each other, with some more important than others. For instance, in both the book and the movie Max and Freak find and return Loretta Lee’s purse. This similarity is pretty significant, as without doing this, Max and Freak would have never met Loretta or Iggy. They would have then been harder to incorporate later in the story. However, there are some large differences. In the movie, Max tells Freak that he doesn’t want to be friends. Max does not do this in the book. Although you would think that this would influence Freak’s relationship with Max, it doesn’t change a thing. It is honestly very confusing to hear Max saying that he doesn’t want to be friends with

In chapter 15 of Freak The Mighty, the gifts that Freak and Max exchanged for each other were very meaningful. Max knew that Freak liked to invent things and was extremely smart so he got him a tool kit so he can continue doing what he does. Same with Freak, he got Max a dictionary full of words that were meaningful to Freak and Max. After everyone went to bed, I would've never expected Max’s dad to show up. It was very surprising to me and I got nervous for Max.…

When freak and Max were at the swamp during the fourth of July they encountered Tony.D , a bully. They were under the threat of knives and a large gang. Freak and Max managed to work together to return to their security. Freak said to Max in triumph “Slow up ,we did it”. This is an example of how they saved themselves. After Freak and Max escaped the dark cellar where Killer Kane had tied Max up, Max was being strangled by Kenny. Freak and Max , together, liberated themselves. Iggy Lee says to Max “Take it easy kid , you’re okay!”. These are two prime examples of how these fatal situations were life threatening and could have potentially harmed them. Therefore Freak and Max’s ability to escape situations of danger is indeed adequate.…

Game of Thrones is a thrilling TV series that sets in a fictional time that resembles the medieval time and unravels the journey of powerful families playing a deadly game to claim the Iron Throne. As a fantasy epic, the Game of Thrones presents audience a glimpse of a world filled with supernatural threats, witchcraft, dragons and bloodsheds. In this essay, I argue that the Game of Thrones is a present-day manifestation of a freak show due to the characters displayed in the show and explore the similarities and differences between Game of Thrones and freak shows we have studied through analyzing two characters: Tyrion Lannister, a dwarf of a noble family, and Melisandre, often referred as The Red Woman who performs magic to eradicate one of the dynasts.…

Ponyboy, the main character of The Outsiders, and Max the main character in Freak the Mighty share many similarities. For example, Pony’s parents died in a car crash and now he lives with his brothers. Likewise Max lives with his grandparents, because his mom is dead and his father is in jail. In addition both Pony and Max face the loss of close friends. Ponyboy’s friend Johnny died from injuries sustained in a fire, while Max’s friend Freak dies from his heart becoming too big for his chest.…

Although the book has differences, they also have many things in common. One of the most important similarity that is mention a lot, is when Jacobs dad (Billy Black) tells Bella to be careful, around the Cullens. Another one of them, is when Edward tries to change his schedule. He skips school for weeks and never talks to anyone. All because he couldn't read Bellas mind or control his self when he was around her. Another similarity between the two is the fight between Bella and James. It happened at the same location and the exact same way in both. One of the most similar scene is the when Bella joined the Cullens to play baseball. The last similar that I noticed was the scene/event when Tyler almost killed with his van. But, Edward was there…

While these similarities show what these pieces have incommon Freak the Mighty and The Mighty still have differences that make them distinctive. Although the characters have the same names, I have got to say there appearance was definitely incorrect. In the book Max was said to be 7 feet tall, while Kevin was said to be 2 feet tall. In the movie Max was about 6 feet and Kevin was the height of an average 6th grader at Eldorado K-8 ( about 4”6’). Kevin was supposed to have blond hair and blue eyes ( the movie gave him brown eyes and brown hair) while Maxes appearance was not clear in the book. Additionally, in the book, Kevin and Max seemingly lived in suburbia while the movie gave the impression they lived in much more of a city. For example, the old testaments seemed much bigger and better-looking than described in the book ( broken toys and ragged and dirty children who seemed a little broken themselves). The minor problem in plot detail is a third difference. In the movie, Kevin is apparently Max’s LD…

class, Max would never have stood up to his dad or have done anything that summer. Without Max, Freak could’ve died, nobody would ever really understand Freak, Freak couldn’t go on adventures, Freak couldn’t share about his bionics, Freak would have nothing to do that summer. Without each other, what could they possibly be? When they’re together, they’re Freak the Mighty, slaying dragons, (or bad guys) saving damsels in distress, (or damsels who cause distress) and walking high above the world (more like 9 feet). Freak the Mighty are the ultimate team. They’ll always come back to one another even when they’re lost and alone. “I never had a brain until Freak came along and let me borrow his for a while, and that’s the truth, the whole truth. The unvanquished truth, is how Freak would say it, and for a long time it was him who did the talking. Except I had a way of saying things with my fists and with my feet even before we became Freak the Mighty, slaying dragons and fools and walking high above the world.” (page…

In today’s society there are standards for the way people look, dress, and speak. If one person, piece of literature, or film fractures one single rule, they emerge from the crowd and become an outsider. Tim Burton’s films fall under the outcast category. His films are unusually unique. In his films Alice in Wonderland and Edward Scissorhands Burton takes an original idea from his childhood and a common fairytale and pulls out the grim side of the story, yet still keeps the film’s child-like feeling. Alice, from Alice in Wonderland, and Edward from, Edward Scissorhands, are both characters that are treated as social pariahs and also see the world differently. Tim Burton uses multiple cinematic techniques such as side/bottom lighting,…

Max being friends with Freak makes him an even bigger outsider from everyone else. In the duration of the story it’s obvious that Tony D. bullies Max more that he usually does when he’s with Freak, like when he chased them at the firework show and he also called them “Andre the Giant and the dwarf,” and usually if you are being bullied less people hang around with you which makes you feel excluded. Even Max’s father thought it was outlandish to be friends with Freak, for he said that you can “never trust a cripple.”…
