In the movie Gnomeo and Juliet the author uses the same theme as the original Romeo and Juliet. Two people from feuding families fall in love. There are many differences in the movie and play though such as the characters being gnomes. The theme of both of these is that you never truly know someone until you put your differences aside and get to know that person. You cant always assume you know someone based on there family or who they hang out with.…
There is a common theme in both of the stories “The interloper”s and “Romeo and Juliet”. They are that they both have a rivalry like in “The Interlopers” they had a rivalry for whose land it is. The common interest in “Romeo and Juliet” is that there is a rivalry of who is more powerful between the families of “Romeo and Juliet.”…
Dusk of July 1st another brutal brawl between the feuding families of the Capulet and Montague unfolded on the streets of Verona. Tybalt Capulet and Mercutio Escalus were found dead. However, in spite of the many differences, there are similarities between the two stories. Romeo and Juliet and “Teen Couple Executed by their Parents…for daring to fall in love,” both involve the deaths of the couples all happening at a young age, all of them dying before the age of 19 before any of their parents died. Throughout both stories a common factor is that the couples were forced to make adult decisions about their lives and love lives; while, the adults around them were making many poor decisions. Unlike many love stories where the strong, handsome male saves the damsel in distress, the female protagonists in both of these stories appeared to be stronger than their male counterparts. Maybe that is why when the time came, both mothers…
In the movie “Gnomeo and Juliet”, both families have an extreme hatred for each other. With this evidence, it was clear that the theme of the film was that revenge is never the key to success. In the production, it showed that no matter how hard the gnomes would try to sabotage and pull pranks on each other, at the end it didn’t make anyone feel good on the inside but even worse on the outside. This theme was expressed in the scene where Tybalt cut off Benny’s hat and Gnomeo wanted to get revenge by cutting off Tybalt’s hat. The two were then trying to hurt one other while they were on an uncontrolled lawn mower which then leads to Tybalt being crushed into the wall.…

Keira KeoughMr. KallenbornHonors English IINovember 24, 2013 The Differences between versions of Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, can be changed in a variety of ways in order to help different audiences understand the very complex and tragic play. Two particular films that can compare in contrast are Gnomeo and Juliet, the Disney movie and the Leonardo DiCaprio version of Romeo and Juliet. While there are few similarities between the two films, the differences are evident; these prominent differences can be seen in the main characters, the plot, and intended audience. In Gnomeo and Juliet, the two characters meet completely by coincidence. They spotted a flower that they found marvelous and stunning, and just happened to go out of both of their lawns just to retrieve it at the same exact time, meeting and instantly becoming interested in one another. They were unaware that each was a descendant of the other family; contrastingly in Romeo and Juliet, they met at a cordial event; they were also unaware of the significant dissimilarity between their families. Although both versions of the play result in Romeo pursuing Juliet, the differences can be easily distinguished. In Gnomeo and Juliet, Gnomeo marries Juliet after the family feud resolves, unlike in the DiCaprio film, where Romeo and Juliet are secretly wedded without the knowledge of their parents. Considering the similarities, both characters in mutual movies fall in love at first sight, further leading to the constant need to see one another, which as in both movies, they began seeing each other in secret. As well as in the main characters, evident differences can be seen in the plot of the two movies, Romeo and Juliet andGnomeo and Juliet. Gnomeo and Juliet’s plot consists of the two main characters falling in love by the male character having to win the admiration of the female character. After earning the disapproval of the female character, the…

William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is the tragic tale of “a pair of star-crossed lovers,” (1.Prologue.6). Fate brought them together, and ripped them apart within three days. The lovers came from two feuding families who hated each other. Romeo, a Montague, was encouraged by his friend Mercutio to attend Capulet’s party, where he met Juliet, a Capulet, and they fell in love right away. They married the next day, but Capulet had already promised Juliet to County Paris, a wealthy man who he approved of. Meanwhile, Romeo had been banished because he murdered Tybalt, a Capulet, in revenge for killing Mercutio. Juliet went to Friar Laurence for help because she did not love Paris and was already married to Romeo. He gave her a potion that would…
A myriad of novels claim they are the greatest love story of all time. It is only in the case of this novel that that statement can be applied and be true. The Great Gatsby is narrated by Nick Carraway in the roaring 1920's in America. Nick moves to East egg, the smaller area in comparison to west egg but also where the mega-rich live.…
I find that these works of literature are similar in the sense that both the stories have a “forbidden” love in the storyline. Romeo and Juliet are from two opposing families which are the Capulets and Montagues. They end up falling in love with each other, and secretly get married, but Romeo has to vanish from the city due to him murdering their cousin. Juliet’s parents force her to get married to another man, Paris, but they are not aware of her marriage with Romeo. At first she refuses, but then she “agrees” because she makes a plan to make everyone think she is dead to run away with Romeo.…
