Hurricanes and tornadoes are not very alike at all, the only have one similarity, winds. Both storms contain very strong rotating winds that can be sure to blow away all types of things, or even suck off of the ground.
Hurricanes have a lot more differences than Tornadoes, for instance, Hurricanes form over water, the storm has stronger winds, Hurricanes can last up to 3 weeks, and the Hurricane area can get a Hurricane watch
up to a few days in advance! However Tornadoes do move a lot faster than Hurricanes, (up to 300 mph.) and Tornado watches come 15-20 minutes in advance!
Not all disasters are the same as you can see from the following passage. Each storm has its own way of destroying, or just damaging. As you can see, Hurricanes seem a lot more severe than Tornadoes.
