In Jefferson’s speech he starts talking about that he will try to do his best but he will most likely make mistakes as time goes on. In Kennedy’s speech he is only talking about his strength. Both of these speeches use rhetorical questions but only Jefferson answers them. Jefferson and Kennedy both gave outstanding speeches on their first day as elected presidents of the United States, their speeches both present similarities and differences in metaphors, themes, and their point of view.
Jefferson and Kennedy both use metaphors in their speeches, the metaphors both convey different ideas. Kennedy wrote his speech talking to the whole world, while Jefferson was only talking to Americans. Jefferson wanted Americans to come together for common good while Kennedy wanted the whole world to come together for common good. Jefferson goes on by saying “...I look with encouragement for that guidance and support which may enable us to steer with safety the vessel in which we are all embarked...” he is trying to say that the countries that become friends with communist will be sorry. Kennedy tells his audience “...those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended
