The division between the Jews and the Christians can make people forget about all the great influences that Judaism had on Christianity. For example, the Christians developed the belief in one God from the Jews, “the Christians had scared meals, liturgical washings, and simplified places of worship just like the Jews”, and the biggest gift of all was the bible. The Christians did not intend to cause a separation between them and the Jews. It was Peter that helped bring the two together. “He was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance, I saw a vision. There was something like a large sheet coming down from heaven, being lowered by its four corners; and it came close to me.” Voices spoke to him and told him to kill the animals and he refused. Then three men appeared and the spirit told Peter to go with them and to not see the differences between them. The lord spoke to him and peter said “If then God gave them the same gift that he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could hinder God?... Then God has given even to the Gentile’s the repentance that leads to life.” This did not end the tension between the two right away. The separation lasted for a while after this, but it was one of the major turning points for both religions. They fought back and forth and eventually came to terms with one
