From what I understood Rawls had a simple way to bring together law and society.
Rawls had these two ideas. One idea was that all should be equal. All should have the same rights. The second idea was if there are any inequalities, everyone should benefit from them in the society. Still to this day, philosophers stand with these ideas of Rawls. These ideas are the fairest when it comes to building a society. Now as easy and possible as these ideas may seem, they’re not. Even the more sophisticated and experienced would agree with Rawls also. In this modern day and time, you can find these same ideas trying to be executed. The US strives for these ideas of democracy, the free world. Often times than none we come up short. In other countries, there is no everyone is created equal, or same fairness. No, it’s you’re a woman. I’m a man. What I say goes. In the same countries if you try to go against these ideas, you could be put away for a long time. The term is “political prisoner.” In most countries people look at them, how we look at terrorist. There is no freedom of speech. Living in a society like Rawls pled for, this would not happen. If a society does not help its own people it is not a society. Meaning when the population cries for help, the justice system should be set in place to answer
them. Rawls’ ideas are to be carried out by the fear of penalizing or punishing. If these laws or ideas or not enforced by punishment, typically that law will be broken and questioned why it was ever made. The law is set into place to keep the citizens from breaking the same rules. Yes, there are morals that people abide by, but not everyone’s morals are the same. Hence the reason we have rules and punishment.
