Similarities Between Neil Dunn And Julie L. Pentz
The piece I have decided to critique is called, Fume Fume. The choreography was focused around traditional dance, and was choreographed by Neil Dunn and Julie L. Pentz. From my perspective, I believe they incorporated a lot of African inspired dances and mixed a few Latin inspired moves as well. In which, I believed this connected with Zumba and Latin dancing the most.
The sole intent of the dance was for entertainment and also to connect individuals with a different culture. It was very fun to watch and the beat used was very engaging. Instead of using a really song, they used live musicians and they all wore very traditional clothing. Honestly, it was a piece that I could connect to on a more personal level.     The first thing that caught my eyes was the colorful and unique dance regalia or outfit worn by the dancers. Bright colors such as yellow, orange, red, and light blue wrapped around the dancers beautifully. The older looking male dancers were wearing the feather warbonnets on the head and bustles on the back. Dancers with striking multicolored beaded and fringed outfits were crowding the dance floor.
