Similarities Between Racism And Sexism

In society today we have many problems. Everything we do in society is criticized. Yet, there are bigger problems than just getting criticized. Two problems that stand out in society are racism and sexism. Some may say that those problems do not matter anymore, but many beg to differ. There are so many problems with racism, and sexism yet no one realizes what the differences are between them. No matter the color of your skin, nor gender you should get the respect that you deserve. Some say that racism and sexism are the same, but they are not. They may intertwine with one another but they are quite different from one another.

Generally women are more suitable to experience sexism, however both genders experience racism, but it is usually men. In society, both racism and sexism deal with discrimination. A person does not choose to be a certain “color”, or a certain “gender”, nevertheless people in society choose to deny rights to them because of how they look, and who they are. Getting to the point where racism, and sexism intertwine with one another in society. If you are an African-American women, you are more suitable to both of these just because of your gender, and the complexion of your skin. Society is a major similarity between these two, due to how close racism and sexism are if you are a female, and a different race, or even have a different culture. The moral is both of these problems need to be solved. Many just want the equal opportunities that another group may get. For example Martin Luther King Jr. fought against racism for the freedom to be equal to other races. Racism and sexism started many years ago. They both had their fair share of low amounts of opportunities. Their should be no judgement when it comes to your gender, or the color of your skin. Just because of your skin, or your gender nobody in society should have the right to judge you in any way. You also should not be given less privileges because of someone who is gender biased aka sexist, or from someone who is racist. Racism and sexism they’re the same, yet rather different.
