(Hook) Everyone knows the tale of the two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, who fall madly in love with each other, but eventually end up dead. It’s a classic! (Rewording of MA) Juliet continues to have secret meetings with Romeo held on her balcony and other places around her house. (m1 for MA) Romeo and Juliet first meet at the Capulet’s party, which is held to find Juliet’s one true love. When they meet Romeo believes Juliet is the most beautiful girl and kisses her unexpectedly. Days after the party Romeo goes out to seek Juliet and ends up at her balcony. Romeo knows Juliet and him can not be together, because of him being a Montague and Juliet being a Capulet. He overhears Juliet speaking about him, and trying to be as quiet as a mouse, speaks out saying, “I take thee at thy word. Call me but love, and I’ll be new baptized. Henceforth I never will be Romeo” (Shakespeare 2.2.49-51). Juliet overhears Romeo and wonders why he came here so late at night. Romeo eventually makes his way up onto the balcony; Juliet inviting him up. The nurse then calls for Juliet and Romeo ends up leaving. (Rewording of MA) The Nurse took care of Juliet all through her life and now is helping her decide either Romeo or Paris. (m1 for MA) After Lady Capulet talks to Juliet and the Nurse, they both have some time to discuss things about Paris. The Nurse,of course, believes Paris is a lovely man, stating “Lady, such a man As all the world. Why he’s a man of wax” (1.3.76-77). Which of that Lady Capulet, who is now back in the room, responds saying he is the finest flower in all of Verona. Eventually, Juliet ends up saying she is not sure her and Paris are a perfect match. The Nurse is alright with her decision and tells Juliet that when she has found her love, it will be an honor to watch her get married. (m2 or MA) The Nurse has raised Juliet when her mother could not be there. The Nurse tells the story of how Juliet began to walk and had a scratch on her head, noticed by her husband. Juliet was crying, but was cheered up when the Nurse’s husband cracked a joke on her. Lady Capulet did not want to listen to the rest of the story and quickly ended it.
