Julie took a small sip from her cup, the punch tickling her tongue as the sweet fluid touched her lips. The colourful lights swivelled overhead, casting multicoloured silhouettes around the darkened ballroom as her heart pounded with the vibrations of the music.
She had lost her date, Pearce, in the midst of the pulsing crowd, not that it bothered her. She preferred the infrequent moments of privacy she had from her over-protective date who her parents forcibly . Only an hour had passed, and she already wanted to return home. The Formal was supposed to be an enchanted night, but she had always found the idea of it to be vastly over-rated.
