Similarities Between Romeo And Juliet And The Lion King
When it comes down to finding a literary work that seems to be alluding to Shakespeare, the film, The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride, comes to mind. This film appears to be quite similar to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. In Romeo and Juliet, the two lovers’ families are having a feud, so they cannot be together with the approval of their families. When it comes to the film, Simba’s daughter, Kiara, meets Kovu, and he happens to be Scar’s heir. Kiara and Kovu’s families do not get along because in the first movie, Scar killed Simba’s father to try and gain power. However, Simba avenges his father’s death by killing Scar. This family feud and the attempt to murder Simba causes Kovu to be banned from the Pridelands. Kiara eventually sneaks off to

However, in spite of the many differences, there are similarities between the two stories. Romeo and Juliet and “Teen Couple Executed by their Parents…for daring to fall in love,” both involve the deaths of the couples all happening at a young age, all of them dying before the age of 19 before any of their parents died. Throughout both stories a common factor is that the couples were forced to make adult decisions about their lives and love lives; while, the adults around them were making many poor decisions. Unlike many love stories where the strong, handsome male saves the damsel in distress, the female protagonists in both of these stories appeared to be stronger than their male counterparts. Maybe that is why when the time came, both mothers…

The play Romeo and Juliet may seem to have no visible connections to the novel, “the lord of the Flies; I read these stories in ninth grade, but now that I come to think of it, they do connect, but on a deeper level; they are parallel in many ways. Both stories deal with 2 separate groups (Romeo/Juliet, and the two gangs that are created in lord of the flies), in which it would be best to come together, but other forces are stopping the unity (Romeo and Juliet's parents, and the leaders of the gangs in Lord of the Flies) and innocent people caught in the middle and senseless dying. In the story “Romeo and Juliet” Friar Lawrence tried to use his religious status to unite the Capulet’s and the Montague’s but Jack Merridew put fear into the boys to gain political power over ralph. Their different ways of use of religion are demonstrated in the nature of how they use their beliefs. It can be shown that protagonist Jack uses fear to control the boys, while Friar Lawrence uses the Capulet’s for religion to justify Juliet’s supposed “death”. In the lord of the flies, it can be seen that the boys are being caught up with the idea of having fun and this brings them to a fast decision of underestimating the worth of what is really important. The boys put the act of hunting as more important than being rescued as their priority, as the killing of the sow justified carelessness of not maintain the fire when the boat was seen at the sea, This parallel shows how the brawl between the Capulet’s and Montague’s started, as both families thought that things can only be resolved through violence and this explains their disobedience to the laws of their hometown Verona. In lord of the flies; Simon and piggy were murdered, and on Romeo and Juliet Tybalt, Romeo and many others died due to the fact that they were caught up with what they were doing. Comparing both stories it can be seen that they both show how society overpowers violence.…

A over the top exaltation of the woman is recurrent in both plays: A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Romeo and Juliet. For example, Romeo makes several comparisons between Juliet and celestial bodies -the moon and stars- in order to deem himself banal to her divine beauty. Moreover, the cosmos symbolizes the infinite: a place where only angels and gods, goddess can stay. It also dignifies his persona by becoming the lover of a supernatural lady. He goes further in his hyperbole to say that Juliet cheek is brighter than those stars, “the brightness of her cheek would shame those stars as daylight doth a lamp” (Act 2. 2 P. 1017). Yet, this hyperbolized image of the teenagers shows Romeo’s naiveté as well as the playwright’s genius in criticizing the genre of tragedy-comedy. A couple of teenagers play the role of adults to emphasize the ingenuity of the latter. That is, the author burlesques adults for their shallowness, especially men, when the muse enamors the knight’s soul. As the famous proverb recites “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, Romeo epitomizes it. Namely, a man in love sees the world iridescent, full of color, where happiness and absurdity rein.…

Charles Spurgeon has once said: “It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy that makes happiness”. Finding happiness is everyone’s final destination in life, but being able to truthfully own happiness, there is always going to be letting go of troubles and celebrating what you already own. Through the roughe journey of life, we are able to balance happiness and compromise to an equal extent and that’s where the meaning of happiness lay. When it is pursued consciously and ruthly, for an instant that may seem real, however, the pursuit will ultimately compromise happiness, not gain it. It connects deeply with Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird along with William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. In both texts, the authors similarly…

Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet presents us with an array of timeless values that are depicted through Baz Luhrmann's filmic adaptation of the text. The main contrast between Baz Luhrmann's film and the original text is that the film context takes place in a modernised society much like ours today, carrying the same notions that are present within the original text into a society relevant to ours. The Concept of family is a key moral in both Baz Luhrmann's and Shakespeare’s texts that is intertwined with religion and ideas of a patriarchal society forming a complex text that highlights many ideas existing within today's community.…

Absolutely, I do think that we are in charge of our fate. Even though "destiny" and "fate" have similar meanings, they are very distinct in my opinion. Opportunities are presented to us by fate, but in the end, our choices define our fate. For example, it was fate if you met the ideal person at a party. However, your fate is in the actions you take.…

I believe that the world’s nations are in quite similar situation that the one Athens was in Socrates’s times. That is, that “skepticism and success” were the norm in those days. The Sophist stated, “All values and standards are relative,” and one of the main questions that you should ask yourself is, “Will performing this action be advantageous to me?” These are the criterion the many individuals, including presidents, follow these days. As a result, we have extremely corrupt individuals as presidents all over the globe. Having stated this point, now let’s analyze in general, what is a good president on Socrates’s norms?…
