While Odysseus was away from home for 20 years, suitors flocked his house. His lovely and lonely wife Penelope was stuck dealing with them. She still loved Odysseus, but all the suitors loved her. They took advantage of her and were snobs. They ate their food, killed their cattle, and made a mess of their house. When Odysseus came home he made a plan to avenge his home with the help of his son and servants. Odysseus then put his plan into action. He showed all the suitors that he was Odysseus by shooting his bow. Then he killed the nastiest suitor first whose name was Antinous. Odysseus then shouted, “‘You yellow dogs, you thought I’d never make it home from the land of Troy. You took my house to plunder, twisted my maids to serve your beds. You dared bid for my wife while I was still alive… Your last hour has come. You die in blood.’” (Homer 957). Odysseus killed all the suitors because they loved and wanted to be with his wife. The suitors love for Penelope ended up getting them all
