was still millions of citizens that were still unemployed (Smiley). These statistics clearly show how the New Deal didn’t assist the economy as well as it should have. As shown, the New Deal was abortive and did not support the horrendous Great Depression. The Remedies created for the New Deal were a failure.
In a political cartoon, Franklin Delano Roosevelt needed to create the Second New Deal because he knew that the First New Deal was not developing the way Roosevelt thought it would (New Deal Remedies). The cartoon shows how ironic it is how the New Deal is meant to help pull the United States out of the Depression when the Remedies themselves also need to be helped (New Deal Remedies). Although, some people may say that the First and Second New Deal was obliging, but, both the First and Second New Deal brought more problems along with solutions. As manifested, the New Deal’s Remedies brought more problems to the economy and was
inefficacious. Remedies of the New Deal were supposed to help the economy grow and prosper, although, it did not provide the support and reinforcement for African Americans. “The National Recovery Administration, for example, not only offered whites the first crack at jobs, but authorized separate and lower pay scales for blacks” (McNeil, Mintz). Also, the President failed to prevent this. “Roosevelt feared that conservative southern Democrats, who had a seniority in Congress and controlled many committee chairmanships, would block his bills if he tries to fight them on the race question” (McNeil, Mintz). Although, some people may say that the New Deal still provided a numerous amount of jobs to citizens who needed them. While, many others that needed jobs were discarded and didn’t have a chance to earn a job. In conclusion, the New Deal was not a success because it did not provide the same job opportunities to all citizens.
President Roosevelt’s New Deal was a deterioration; there were millions of citizens who were unemployed, the many Remedies that were already in play also needed to be renovated, and the New Deal didn’t provide all citizens with jobs. The New Deal did not assist the economy by providing jobs as well as it should have. It also brought along a numerous amount of problems. While, other citizens did not have a chance to get a job in the economy. Learning about the Great Depression and the New Deal is important because some of the problems and solutions caused by the New Deals would not be here today.
