Found in the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel is Sharon Lange’s “Freedom- Liberty Lighting Our Way”. At first observation of the piece, there are some glaring ties to older works which one can assume she took inspiration from. The most notable observations are the multiple similarities between Sharon Lange’s “Freedom- Liberty Lighting Our Way” and Delacroix’s “Liberty Leading the People, July 28th 1830”, those include personification, composition, and representation.

The piece is overall symbolic of rising from the ashes and into prosperity. Stigora’s work represents the emotional feats and strengths we pull ourselves from, thus making it an emotional piece overall; which, that being said, exemplifies another Baroque feature. Emotions are a very important subject in Baroque art. Baroque art had a fascination with the display of emotions through the works. Consequently, one could associate Stigora with Baroque, by her depictions of emotions in “Phoenix”. As viewers enter the gallery, densely woven burnt branches surround them. As they continue to walk forward the branches continue to twist and weave all around, but at the same time begin to become less dense and sparser. This is symbolic of pulling oneself out of the negative emotions we harbor, pulling oneself from the stress and pains we endure and coming out of this despair into the light and into enlightened
