In our society it is positive, we have no restriction on the number of gender of children .in both societies offspring is created. In The Giver this is negative because birthmothers have kids and are given to family units. In our society parents have their own kids without the need of birthmothers, this is positive.
In both The Giver and our society can get married.
In the Giver community an adult must apply for a spouse and then the elders choose you the perfect mate. This is negative because adults don’t have a choice in who they will marry. In our society we can marry whomever we want and we don’t need permission from the government, this is positive.
In the other way compare them is the concept of limited choices. Both have same choices every day of course both have to deal with being where they are for a long time. But, In the Giver community the people will be treated as unique and they maintain only one color and with same dress. In our community we can wear any color and any dresses. They don’t listen music but we can listen the music anytime anywhere. In present day man also gets to choose what he eats, while the community has to eat bland food every night at his dwelling.
In other comparison our society has a chance to love and to be loved, But the Giver community is approved of the fact that love is outdated and instead is replaced with respect. In the Giver community, the celebration of every one Birthday will be done on the same day, in December and receives the same item as Gift and they don’t keep track of their age beyond 12 and also whole society gathers to celebrate. But in our society people celebrate their birthdays on the anniversary of the day they were born. They receive various items as gifts and they keep track of their age from birth until death and people may have a party with just friends or family, not necessarily the entire
community.
In conclusion, our community and The Giver community are both similar and different based on the concept of freedom. There are many similarities and differences in their communities, limited choices, and limited freedom.
