Similarities Between The Song 'And Where Have You Been?'
There are numerous of similarities between a song called “It’s all over now, baby blue” by Bob Dylan and a short story name “Where are you going. Where have you been?” by Joyce Carol Oates. The similarities between the song and the story is that they both share a common theme of being forced or getting into something mysterious. Through the short story Arnold Friend tried to influence Connie into escaping her father's house and going away with him. It was almost as if Connie was forced by Arnold because of his words. One thing Arnold said was “be nice to me, be sweet like you can because what else is there for a girl like you but to be sweet and pretty and give in? and get away before her people come back” page 339 by Joyce Carol Oates.

Both Sunday in the Park and Jasper Jones have also utilised settings to establish similar notions surrounding hypermasculinity and its prominent position in society. Sunday in the Park sets us off with an ordinary family having an ordinary outing in the park on an ordinary Sunday afternoon. The mood starts off as peaceful and pleasant, but as the story progresses, the mood gradually develops into something more morbid and foreboding. The transition in the mood of the story symbolizes the change in the two main characters of the story. Morton, who started off as static and nonchalant about everything, morphed into somewhat of a coward and a disappointment to his wife.…

Within Lorraine Hansberry’s play Raisin in the Sun and Martin Luther King Junior’s “I Have a Dream” speech, they each share similar ideas of dreams. Hansberry’s character Mama, or Lena Younger, has dreams of the world becoming free from segregation. This was exactly Martin Luther King Junior’s thoughts as he led the Civil Rights Movement. When Mama was recalled her husbands thoughts on dreams she stated, “Seem like God didn’t see fit to give the black man nothing but dream” (Hansberry 1553). This statement showcases that Mama and Big Walter were hopeful of freedom and equality so they could have the opportunity to prosper in the world. Martin Luther King Junior’s speech also addressed the dream of equality by detailing, “I have a dream that…

Often, the lyrics to a song are what appeals to fans, and in a cover song, it is common to see some change in the lyrics from the original version. While most of the words are the same in both versions, in Houston’s cover version, the words “My darling, you…” (Houston), are present. This change emphasizes the difference of the intended meaning for the song. While both songs focus on a person, this version gives no doubt that there is a romantic interest involved. While the song ‘s origin may be specific to Dolly Parton, its sentiment remains universal. The woman in the songs knows a relationship is over, but still values the time she spent with the person she is leaving. She still wants the best for him. A main message of the song is that love…

“What's unnatural is homophobia. Homo sapiens is the only species in all of nature that responds with hate to homosexuality.” Alex Sanchez provides a perfect quote for the opening of this paper. Macklemore’s song and Sanchez’s quote fit hand in hand without flaw. Thus, this song is basically trying to make a statement to all people that discrimination against homosexuality is truly sickening. It doesn’t matter what religion you are or what belief you might have; sending hate to someone who is just being themselves is wrong all the way around. You don’t have to like it, you don’t have to believe in it, but like anything else, you have to respect it. Whatever morals you may have are not always the same as…
