Things Fall Apart Final Essay Comparing American culture to another country, some consider it superior, while others consider it a way of destruction of morals and respect. The Igbo culture, while very different from American culture, connects to American culture in more similarities than some may see. The Igbo culture celebrates some of the major holidays that we American celebrate. New Year’s, Easter, Christmas, and some others get shared by both the Igbo culture, and American culture. Everyone has said how the American culture, because of social media, seems to be declining. I do not happen to agree with this at all.
I strongly believe that social media has not only enhanced our generation, but has brought us closer together. Seeing social media in the perspective of an older person, might intimidate them. They would simply not understand the use and help it has done for the “Generation of Technology.” This debate could go on for years, because it really gets a 50/50 reaction. The Igbo people most likely suspected the white missionaries of heresy, because their views could not be accepted in either religion. The white missionaries when seeing the Igbo culture and tradition, thought of all the illicit activities that in their perspective, made them a rancor to the Igbo people. The worst part about all of this, the media of today, only shows the negative things going on in America. Some of the new is spurious even, just to get more views and likes.
