Sina Act 2 Scene 2 Summary
S E T T I N G:

It is set in (2016) modern-day. Most scenes are in the “McDillard Mental Facility”, a mental hospital that isn’t real. Inside is only, mainly white. White walls, white clothes, white faces, and white lies. There are many rooms that address issues from rehab to X-ray scans.

The Lux is another term for the mental institution for Sina. The Aliovorsum is another term for the outside world/ elsewhere. The Umbra is essentially death, but Sina doesn’t know that. The Umbra is a somewhat safe-haven from the Lux and a place that brings all happiness.

C H A R A C T E R S:

SINA/61381016: The main character who is a female patient in a mental hospital. She is introverted, simple, and thoughtful, in her own way. She has a blank expression most of the time, because she is

(SINA shrugs again as she stares at the paper with eighty-one boxes.)

Scene Three
SINA is being walked back to her room by GREY MAN ONE and GREY MAN TWO. She is off in her own thoughts again.

VOICE OVER: I don’t get it. What’s the point of doing those little boxes? White Lady dismissed me when she saw she couldn’t get me to touch it. She called the Grey Men, the ones who always take me places. I don’t get why, the Lux is a quiet, safe place. It’s easy to get around. Except when someone tries to go to the Aliovorsum. The ‘Aliovorsum’ is Latin for ‘elsewhere.’ Out there is where you are in danger, don’t go there. There is one place I want to go to. The Umbra. It means ‘shadow’ in Latin. This is where the mind can be at ease and be hidden. No blinding, no using, just free.

GREY MAN TWO: (Opens bedroom door.) Please go in, ma’am.

(SINA walks in and stares at her bed as they lock and close her door. She turns to look back at her door. She looks as if she saw something. As if something was calling her. She stays there, waiting.)

In the Allegory of the Cave, the prisoners watch shadows on the walls that are cast by puppeteers; they assume the shapes to be reality, as opposed to what is actually casting the shapes. Since they have been engulfed in this ‘reality’ since they were children, it is thus the only truth they know. In The Matrix, these shapes on the walls are not shadows, but rather a continuous world that exhibits the same characteristics: the humans in the Matrix are living unaware of the possibility that their sensory information is false. When Morpheus (who, interestingly enough, shares the name with the Greek god of sleep, who sends images in dreams or visions) introduces this idea to Neo, Neo accepts the red pill to learn the truth about his reality, but is disappointed and disgusted by what he finds. Shortly after taking the pill, he is swallowed up by a mirror where he learns that its reflections – much like the shadows on the wall in Plato’s…

The Massacre that was held in Boston Massachusetts on March 5, 1770 was a small yet horrific event. It started out as colonist teased and taunted the British soldiers. They also threw rocks and whatever else they could throw at them. The soldiers reacted to this by firing back at the colonist killing five people, three were killed on impact and two died later on, several were wounded. Immediately after, the colonist disappeared and the soldiers reported back to their barracks. Even though we cannot be exact on what happened for sure about what happened that day; some eyewitnesses claim they heard the commander tell the soldiers to load their weapons and fire. Some evidence proves Captain Preston’s innocence of not commanding the soldiers to fire, and that it was done in the heat of the moment (Martin Kelly).…
