Gabe goes to drop her off at her house. As he leaves Gabe finds a sign that reads A Day in New York a comedy in 3 acts with music. It then zooms in on the sigh and dissolves to the play. The play ends up being the first and second part of the movie, but we don’t get to see the third act because we don’t know what it is. To me it was summing up what was happening in the movie and/ or side tracking itself into a movie with in a movie. This also happened in Singing in the Rain with the Broadway peace where they were on a stage explaining what was happening thought the movie through a big dance number that goes on for way to long. I also found it interesting that the sigh said it was 3 acts. Which I think that it is referring to is the three-act structure that Hollywood has and has been using for years. You see the three-act structure in on the town with the setup, conflict, and the resolution.
Another similarity that I found between singing in the rain and on the town, was that all the dance numbers where filmed in long shots so you could see the people dancing from head to toe. The only exception to this is the opening song in on the town where there not dancing the sailors are just walking/ going around New
