A study done by The Australian Psychological Society (2009) found that approximately 43 percent of marriages in Australia end in divorce, with 50 percent of these divorces involving children under the age of 18 (AIHW 2009). *** (What percentage of these form a single parent family rather than blended or extended)
This research report will investigate the current rise of the single parent family in Australia and the consequential impact on the health and well-being of children from these families. It will draw conclusions to whether or not these families are disadvantaged and offer solutions to minimise any impacts on health and well-being.
