Perhaps one of his greatest transgressions, and one of his greatest joys of Equality was The Golden One.
The society was not allowed to pursue one another, instead their mating partner was chosen for them. Equality broke this rule by becoming incredibly attracted to her that he thought of getting to her before she was placed in the house of mating. However, Liberty was attracted to him as well. Which then took place of another sin, the way Equality and Liberty would signal to each other. When the men were sweeping the outskirts of town and the women were working the field, both would lift their hand over their forehead and look upon one another. This gave Equality happiness, even though it was
forbidden. Equality put in great commitment to his secret discoveries in the tunnel of the unmentionable times, another prime source for any happiness he had. He stealing however, made to study were also transgressions. I believe Equality does not feel guilty because he wouldn’t have to steal if he was placed in the home for scholars; the place he believed he belonged.
His tremendous moment of circuiting the light bulb was to the first form of hope we felt through the character. Equality did not feel guilty because it was his, but his to share. After taking this to the world council presenting it with nothing but pride, and still rejected he realized something about his society. He made the Council tremble, for they were scared of any change to occur and for that change to happen because of a man they thought they had control over. Taking his invention into the uncharted forest and spending a day there he realized a few more things about the atmosphere he was so used too. He noticed why his brothers acted as they did; it was because all joy was wrong if you were alone, everything was evil if you were alone. He thought of the two solid things that made him happy, both of which had happened on his own. The end of the story Prometheus realizes, both why he was not guilty for his sins and why the society looked at his actions as sinful.
