Sir Winston Churchill's Role In The First World War
Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill Winston Churchill was a big part of World War Two; he gave so many inspirational speeches that helped us get though the war. He was a great person and an amazing leader. Would we have won without Winston’s enthusiasm and speeches? Although Sir Winston didn’t personally take Hitler down, he was the biggest influence in the war. We couldn’t have won without him. “If Hitler invaded Hell I would at least make a favorable reference to the devil in the House Of Commons”-Churchill (Patrikis). Churchill became prime minister of Great Britain the day Hitler launched the first invasion in France on May 10th, 1940. They called the invasion the battle of France. In 1941 he allied with America and President Franklin D. Roosevelt. This allowed Britain to buy war goods …show more content…

Winston’s ancestors were both American and British (Patrikis). As a child Winston attended St. George’s school in Ascot from 1882-1884. From 1884-1888 he attended The Misses Thompson’s Preparatory School (Patrikis). He learned French when he attended The Misses Thompson’s Preparatory School. At first Winston didn’t want to choose military but after he got in he knew it was good for him. “Winston Churchill was one of the best-known, and some say one of the greatest, states men of the 20th century.”- (“Winston S. Churchill”). Winston was also a writer, a historian, and an artist. He was also the only prime minister who received a noble prize in literature, and the first Honorable U.S. citizen.-(Patrikis) Sir Winston was an amazing person and leader.
