As a child, Walt enjoyed drawing and throughout his childhood he would draw and sell sketches to his neighbors. Walt Disney was an entrepreneur because an entrepreneur starts their own business and is responsible for taking risks. Walt Disney wanted to draw animations and create films and productions from them. Walt, along with his brother, founded their Walt Disney Company, and he took the risk of producing the first animated full-length film which could have bankrupted his studio if the production failed. Walt was the creative side of the business whereas his brother handled the business side of his company.
Being creative is one of the many skills entrepreneurs have to have along with being enthusiastic, organized and been capable of working in teams which he showed by working with his brother, however they did have a few disagreements which they over came, which is also a skill an entrepreneur is expected to have. There were times where they had disputes on how to spend the money, Walt wanted to do more, but Roy, his brother, said it would be impossible with the amount of funding they had.
The expectation of an entrepreneur is to start a business in which you are willing to take risks for. Walt Disney took many risks within his career however his work was extremely successful and still has an effect on society in the world today. He suffered through many fits of anger and depression through his many trials. Yet he learned from each setback, and continued to take even bigger risks which combined with the wisdom that experiencing failure can provide, led to fabulous financial rewards. The fact that the Disney organization still exists and is growing is testimony to his success.
