Skin Cancer: A Very Common Skin Disease
A very common skin disorder is skin cancer. Skin cancer is caused when regular skin cells undergo a change when they are growing and start to multiply uncontrollably. There are three types of cancer in the skin: Basal Cell Carcinoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma, and Malignant melanoma. Basal Cell Carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer seen in people. It is caused by being overly exposed to sunlight and UV rays. Skin cancer is a primary diagnosis. Skin cancer also affects “more than one million people in the United States of America each year”(Beaman, 2015). One treatment option for skin cancer is surgery to destroy and remove the entire affected area of the skin.
