The woman’s name is Sandra; she is a black girl growing up in a society that suppresses people of her colour and segregation is legal. But to make thing more difficult, she is born to white parents. This causes a huge clash and makes her identity hard to distinguish, the black community does not welcome her as she is said to be white on paper and at the same time she is not accepted by the white community due to the colour of her skin. This causes Sandra’s connections with others to be very confusing and confronting and she feels as if she does not belong anywhere. Her inner self is torn between opposites. As the movie continues Sandra’s identity strengthens from her interactions and she finally shows this by defying her family and integrating her into a community that is obviously more familiar with her ordeals. This causes most of her family to reject her and these actions only strengthen her decisions, eventually causing her to reclassify herself as black before apatite is finally abolished. As the movie comes to a conclusion she finally gets the chance to reconnect with some of her family, who are eternally sorry for there
