schools may not have been exposed to the founders-as-racists arguments. However if taught all the details of Americas past, the students at Liberty University would know that Benjamin Rush said “Domestic Slavery is repugnant to the principles of Christianity,” and would have benefit Sanders in that moment. To have learned that Rush said “It is rebellion against the authority of a common Father,” could change many people’s minds about their ancestry and their past. There is little question that slavery is an abomination and a violation of human rights, but that was a small price to pay for the founders. The founders had to decide if there would be a union or not. If the founding fathers were using morality as their compass, then America may have never had slavery, however if that had been true, the Constitution would not have been ratified and the union would have never formed. While it is a gross stain on Americas past, slavery was imperative to America. If the founders took a stand against slavery and the Constitution was never ratified, the Northern states and Southern states would have gone their separate ways and done whatever they see fit. If that happened, a union would have never been created. Would Americans be better off in that society? The dangerous combo of ignorance of the past and the inability to think critically has provided firepower to those who wish to divide us in selfish pursuit of their own agenda.
The agenda being to subvert the legitimacy of our Constitution, and while doing that gain control of the lives of those who listen. Those who do it target the youths through schools and colleges, and the material that is being taught in those ‘teaching establishments’ is being used to undermine American values and spread false ideas. If a student is to learn, then the student should be taught every important detail. Not just the idea the school agrees
with.
