Slavery was a major turning point in the civil war. Slavery is when one person owns another person. This was a big issue at its time. The south also known as the confederate states of America and the north also known as the United States or the union had fought over slavery. The north was against slavery and the south was ok with slavery. Many battles went on between the two to get this settled out and finally in the American civil war when the Union won.
