When kids do not get enough sleep, they become grumpy and do not seem to focus on their work. They will not have a lot of energy either. Lack of sleep can make you have a higher chance of acquire any other disease. 90% of the people who have insomnia, a sleeping disorder, have another disease. People who do not sleep forget many things and become depressed, angry, and cranky. All kids should sleep about 10 ½ hours each day. We know that kids are not getting enough sleep, but why?
There are many reasons kids do not get enough sleep. The biggest reason is school. School timings are very early and homework is increasing by grade. Some kids have many classes and always come home late, which makes them have to stay up late to do homework. Nowadays, there is all the new technology, which is distracting the kids every once in a while. Many schools have had later starting times. Kids do seem to be earning better grades and are doing a lot better in class. Sleeping late is very bad for us. Now that my friend’s parents noticed how tired she is they have cut down her classes and letting her go to sleep earlier. They also decided to talk to the principal so they could start school later helping all kids get enough sleep. The value of a good night’s sleep was a lot more important than we thought it was. A lack of sleep makes many minor problems which can lead up to a huge problem. This is why we need to get enough sleep.
