Slender Man
Slender Man is extremely long and slender, hence the name, and has four to eight long tentacles, or arms, that protrude from his back. Because not everyone reports these tentacles, it is theorized that Slender Man can contract them. These arms stretch to inhuman lengths, putting victims into a hypnotized state. Slender Man wears a suit and has a pale, ghostly face which appears to be wrapped in a thin layer of gauze. Perhaps the scariest aspect of Slender Man is his location; he stays in the woods near suburbs to be closer to the children. As seen in many photos, it is clear Slender Man often stays near large groups of children (www.creepypasta.com). Although many choose to view Slender Man as a myth to scare children, proof, sightings, disappearances, and past stories, prove that he is real. Evidence to prove Slender Man’s existence can be found in testimonies of sightings. Many reports prove that he appears mostly peering into windows and walking in front of motorcycles on abandoned roads late at night (www.creepypasta.com). Though indirectly, there have been reports of Slender Man in the news lately. The most prevalent example of this is a case where two girls stabbed a third girl 19 times in hopes of becoming “proxies” for …show more content…
Often, there are reported sightings of Slender Man just before the disappearances of children. According to Rainey Ovalle, “Following the 1986 Stirling City Library fire, a small number of photographs were recovered, including one that had been taken only a week earlier on June 1st, 1986. On June 7th, fourteen children disappeared, followed less than two weeks later by the disappearance of the photographer Mary Thomas.” The photograph taken by Mary Thomas shows a group of children playing while Slender Man stands in the background. Whether he kills the children or not is unclear, but it is certain that sightings of Slender Man and disappearances of children are directly

The purpose of this story is to let everyone know about the stereotypes and opinions made about black men. I had no idea that people really were so scared by black people at night so often. I can understand being scared if you’re walking alone at night. I even get scared when I’m walking alone at night, but I don’t discriminate on who I’m scared of. If I see a White, Hispanic, Japanese, or Chinese creep man I’m going to be just as scared of them as if I saw a black creepy man. Creepiness is truly universal.…

Throughout life there are moments where an individual must conform to society and the people around them in order to be accepted, however it is the individual actions and how the individual chooses to conform that creates their unique identity and place within that society. Ralph Ellison published the novel that follows a sense of outward conformity and obedience to an established order while at the same time invoking an inward questioning of the roles an individual plays within such an order. The main character is forced to conform to the cliché laws and expectations of the laws and expectations of the society that he lives in, in order to survive and function within them, while he privately goes against these societies in order to define themselves as individuals and uncover the truth about those societies that they live in. The outward conformity and inward questioning constantly clash, causing the character to doubt and confuse with what he knows is the truth and what he wants to believe is the truth.…

All monsters have that one thing that sets them apart from the rest whether it’s the notorious big foot and his big foot, Michael Myers and his huge kitchen knife, or even werewolves and the fact that they transform when a full moon is out. Every monster is unique and different, but in the book Monsters there are seven theses and one thesis stood out. Theses number six in the book Monsters states that “Fear of the monster is really a kind of desire.” That thesis is true when it comes to a certain fictional monster by the name of Freddy Krueger.…

My understanding of cultural and contextual considerations of T.E.H.O. was deepened through the interactive oral. In the Interactive Oral we discussed the how the town knew about the murder and stayed quiet because of the mob mentality. A student brought up the connection between the mob mentality and the internet today, tying both to safety in numbers. This brought up the idea of how powerful the mafia is having this mob mentality over the majority of the people. Furthering on, the group discussed how the internet and the mafia both create this Mob mentality. One person brought up a video of how boys, not men, were throwing out rape threats to a woman through the internet. This was followed by a discussion on the false confidence and disconnection the internet creates. The internet creates a disconnection between people creating a false confidence that makes people act as if they were alone in the locker room, except it is being displayed to the world. The power of the mafia and the internet are so great it creates this barrier which in to T.E.H.O silences the town and today gives people false confidence to say rude and totally…

The novel, Invisible Man, by Ralph Ellison explores the issue of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness through the main character. In the novel, Invisible Man, the main character is not giving a name. In our paper we will refer to him as the Protagonist. Ellison explores how unalienable rights cannot be obtained without freedom from the obstacles in life especially from one's own fears. In the novel Invisible Man, several major characters affect the Protagonist. One of the major characters is Dr. Bledsoe, who is the president of the school. Dr. Bledsoe had a major effect on the main character, because the Protagonist idolizes him. "He was every thing that I hope to be," (Ellison 99), but the Dr. Bledsoe degrades him when we says "Why, the dumbest black bastard in the cotton patch knows that the only way to please a white man is to tell him a lie" (Emerson 137) and calls him a Nigger. In addition, the Protagonist grandfather had a major effect on him. The ! Protagonist's grandfather last word, "Live in the Lions mouth" (Ellison 16) has a lasting effect on him throughout most of the novel. Finally and most important, Ras the Destroyer, whom the Protagonist fears whom along with Dr. Bledsoe in a separate encountering calls him "a educated fool" (Ellison 140). The first encounter of the Protagonist own fears is introduce when his grandfather' s tells the Protagonist to go against the white man by "overcome 'em with yeses" (Emerson 16). These words haunts the Protagonist when he is kicked out getting kicked out of college. When Dr. Bledsoe kicks him out of college, the Protagonist reflects on his grandfather last words "undermine 'em with grins, agree 'em to death^"(Emerson 16). For a moment, the Protagonist wonders if his grandfather might be right. However, due to the Protagonist fear of failure, the Protagonist doubts his grandfather wise words, because he does not want to believe that his role in life is to undermine the white man. So, the…
