Slower than the rest By Cynthia Rylant is a Realistic fiction about a boy who doesn't fit With everybody. In the beginning leo yelled that he had spotted a turtle on the side of the road. Leo named the turtle charlie he took charlie home and charlie stayed with him. Leo would take charlie on adventures through the back yard and to play. Leo brings charlie everywhere in his house or outside his house so he was with him the whole time. This story shows that all kids should be treated right and the other kids should not treat them badly.

One way charlie improves leos life is that he makes him happy and not sad. Charlie gets to sleep with leo and dose more stuff with him. One day leo decided to bring charlie to school for a presentation

    One of the major concepts is the role of social interaction in adolescent development. The protagonist, Charlie, is exposed to many social extremes; gay bashing, group violence, rape, communal drug use, etc. While Chbosky fails at introducing these situations realistically (the effects of which will be discussed later), they still serve as talking points on the social interaction of young people, and as such, they are valuable to the novel. Chbosky argues in favor of realization of trauma as potential for growth; the supposed everyman Charlie was a molestation victim as a child, a fact he repressed until urged to enter into a sexual situation he could not deal with.
