Sls 1101 Reaction Paper

Walking into the Morris Morrison presentation I thought to myself “wow this is going to be boring”. To my surprise it was anything but boring. Morrison truly is an amazing speaker. From the second he walked out on stage I had such interest in everything he had to say. As Morrison opens his speech he begins to talk about his childhood. He was and orphan, his father a drug dealer and his mother a prostitute, in Brooklyn New York. Shortly after he was adopted by his uncle. He and his uncle got along great Morrison even considered him to be his father at one point but suddenly he is struck by despair and all the bliss and happiness disappears. Morris had to suddenly face the death of this sickly grandmother and the loss of his uncle/father. His grandmother was suffering from cancer and he was forced to say good bye at an early age. Shortly after his uncle was accused of shooting someone through the hand and sentenced to one hundred years in federal prison. Morris was then forced to fend for himself out in the world. Through Morrison’s troubled past he has built confidence and motivation to become successful in life. He ended up getting an amazing six figure job but ended up leaving to pursue his real passion in life, motivational speaking. Morrison has taught me to keep faith and always trust in myself. Although many things may be going wrong and you may feel hopeless, I know that everything happens for a reason, and it will ultimately make you stronger. At the peak of Morrison’s success career he received and email from his aunt (his mothers sister). He then flies to Tennessee to meet his grandmother (from mothers side) were he gets to see the house were his mother grew up and experienced a little bit of what he has missed his entire life. Morrison then begins to feel a sense of completion. He is also happy to soon be welcoming his unborn daughter on December 4th, which also happens to be his birthday and his good luck day.
