Small Print Controversy
Do you enjoy music? Have you ever questioned the lyrics you’ve sung along with your favorite artists? If you answered yes, I have the perfect website for you! I also found myself wondering if I was singing the correct words to my favorite songs. To clarify, I searched for a lyric engine through google search and found www.musicmademe.com. Despite the website’s lack of graphics and minute print, it’s still a great music guru site because of its wonderful organization, easy navigation, and wide selection of artists and songs.
When I came upon this site, my first observation was bad. The screen loaded and I couldn’t believe it was finished. The page was very somber with only a white background and small red lettering. The only graphic in the

I would add flash graphics to this site to make it more enticing to their audience. Small print is another problem with this website. It is somewhat difficult to read through all the forums because the print is too small. Because of the small print another problem arose. Small print limits your audience. With older artists such as Louis Armstrong and Otis Redding, I feel the website should appeal more to older generations also. Have you ever heard your grandparents say, “This print is too small,” when reading the newspaper? Your reply is most likely yes, which proves my point. Overall, the print size is not a huge problem but could be enlarged to appeal to more people.
Navigation through this website is great. An alphabet search bar is located at the top of the website, used to locate the artist you’d like in alphabetical order. Once you find the artist you are intending to find, you simply click on the artist and all the albums made by him or her will be shown. Click on the album of the song you’d like to view is on and the songs will be projected from that album on to the next page. To view the lyrics simply click on the song and the lyrics will be shown on the following page. Finding lyrics is fast, easy, and convenient when you use this

On the other parts of the website there are other images and a video embedded into the site. There is another AHH image that is exactly like the one in the slide show and it is located right underneath the slide show. Beside this image is a commercial video that explains what the AHH effect is. To the right of this video is a facebook plugin embedded into the site that allows you to go to the Coca-Cola facebook and on the side of the plugin are tabs that also allow you to go to their twitter, youtube, and flickr sites. Underneath these three objects are more images of Coca-Cola and some of them are links that send you to other activities. The background of the whole website portrays a calm mood, as it is a light blue color with the image of clouds.…

“Pretty Mami” is a desperate missive from a tour bus; the excellent song about his mother, “Dark Queen,” sounds less like an ode to a parent than a supernatural reckoning. The plunges into Uzi’s psyche are mirrored by his delivery. He’s chaotically animated, flitting between short staccato runs and heartfelt singing, punctuated by yelps and bug-eyed ad-libs. The perpetual churn of style and song structure can be a strength, or at the very least helps cover up songwriting that can tend toward formlessness. “444+222,” never finds its footing or has much to say, but at least keeps the listener on his or her toes long enough for Ike Beatz and Maaly Raw’s beat to make its…

When the reader first reads this short story, it is puzzling and random, but as it is read multiple times you begin to understand Browns’ writing style and her unusual development. The reader starts to recognize that the songs represent certain moments of a person’s life when they are at a particular stage in love. For example, a person starts out alone in life, “’All By Myself (Eric Carmen)” (1). Then a person begins the torturous hunt for love, “’Looking for Love (Lou Reed)” (1). When a person finally finds that one person, they begin to become physical with one another and become even more attached to that one special person, perhaps hey even begin a relationship, “’Let’s Talk About Sex” (Salt N’ Peppa)” (3). “’I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend (The Ramones)” (4). The establishment of every relationship is the best part and the happiest time for the couple, therefore the cheeriest and sweetest songs are the beginning of this short story.…

The design of the website is flawless in keeping the darkness that the film gives, it is very plain, black background with white writing in a creepy font. This lets the audience know that this is a horror without even having to know anything about the movie. The first thing that happens when entering the site is a short clip of one of the students, this automatically grabs the audiences attention, giving them a small relationship with the student. I think that the expectations of the audience is met when entering the site, everything about how it is arranged tells me that this is ‘horror’ and is not for anybody that gets nightmares easily. The one thing that I feel the website is missing, is blog posts allowing the audience to give their impressions of the film and the gripping story behind it, I feel this would benefit the relationship between the audience and the story.…

I recently took the opportunity to review an advocacy website pertaining to the infamous Mark Twain and one of his many revered works entitled “The Art of Inhumation”. It was a welcomed opportunity as I have always enjoyed Twain’s writings and, although this particular work was largely unfamiliar to me, I was excited to explore this site to learn more. All of this build up of excitement turned to disappointment early on, however, as I found the site (http://essays.quotidiana.org/twain/art_of_inhumation/ ) less than desirable from a visual and graphical viewpoint.…
