In the early nineties, Nirvana made it from Seattle to the contemporary pop scene in 1991.
The lead singer Kurt Cobain and a close friend Krist Novoselic started the band while in high school. The band was their way out of feeling alienated by the other students in high school. In 1987 a well known Seattle label called Sub Pop jumped on the first chance they got to sign Nirvana. The underground rock population played a very important role in the band music and style. Even though the band was being recognized from people all over, the band felt like they was not getting the messages in the song through to the audience. The band decided to sell their songs to bigger and better music industry companies. In 1992 the band reached their peak of success as “Smells like teen Spirit” continued to rise in the charts. Nirvana changed the music industry, starting a movement that inspired many bands to this very day. Nirvana reign over the music industry with the help of Cobain genius musical talent until his death in
1994.
Paramore is an American rock band that started in Franklin, Tennessee in 2002. The lead singer was only 13 years old and signed to a recording label a year later. As the band begins to grow, Paramore release their first album under Fueled records. Paramore begin to tour in 2004 and as the years pasts they each experience things that they are mentioned in many songs. The band was influenced by many bands and one happened to be Nirvana. As the band members grew so did their music with more powerful meanings.

In Paramore’s song Now, they express the feeling of wanting to be free under dictatorship. The lead singer repeats, “Don’t try to take this from me now”! Meaning that everything that went good kept getting taken away. In a interview with the band, the lead singer Hayley mentions that through their years of becoming successful, there was always that one person that tried to break them. Both songs by each artist expressed a revolution for peace. Giving the audience a message to rebel and fight for their freedom.
