Smiling Emoji Research Paper
Emojis are have been around for about 5 years, but have you ever wondered how they have impacted our society, and communication? In the article, “Should that frown be upside down? Emojis make the meaning clear, by Tracey Lien, Los Angeles Times,” there is a controversial discussion on whether emojis should be part of the dictionary, with the definition a smiling emoji, or not. Emojis should be in the dictionary, because words express emotion and so do emojis. Millions of people use emojis on a daily bases. “Almost 100 percent of smartphone under-25 users text with emojis,” says Bangor University linguistics professor Vyv Evans. Many people use this form of language, and it should be in the dictionary, as it shows both emotion and picture.

Smiley Smile is the twelfth studio album by the American rock band the Beach Boys. It was released on September 18, 1967 and managed to reach number nine on the UK record charts. In the US however, it was not perceived as well and only managed to reach spot forty-one. The CD comes off weak compared to the album Smile, which was a much more well-constructed LP that was never released by the Beach Boys. Smiley Smile took a lot of its inspiration from Smile, the most notable change being that four pre-existing songs from smile were taken to Smiley smile with significantly scaled down arrangements. This however does not make Smiley Smile a bad CD. There are many elements to Smiley Smile that made it an album that stood out for its time such as its Lo-fi…

They are destroying it: pillaging our punctuation; savaging our sentences; raping our vocabulary. And they must be stopped” (335). Many people agree with this idea, and believe that texting is ruining the English language.…
